Support for Men
There is no excuse for domestic abuse
Domestic abuse is a result of gender inequality and is rooted in power and control. It can affect anyone, including men. Domestic abuse is a choice that the abuser makes and people who are experiencing domestic abuse are not to blame. Please see our page on Types of Domestic Abuse for more information.
We understand that men experiencing domestic abuse may experience barriers when it comes to asking for help or accessing support because:
-
You may worry you won't be believed or taken seriously
-
You may not identify as a victim because of shame, embarrassment or harmful stereotypes about masculinity
-
You may fear what others might think
-
You may fear losing your children
-
You may fear further abuse
There's no excuse for domestic abuse and you have the right to access the support you need to live safely and independently. Our crisis intervention services are typically the first point of contact for anyone needing support or advice around domestic abuse.
