Training & Engagement

Community Engagement

Our training and engagement service works across the local and regional community to:

  • raise awareness of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence (VAWDASV)

  • build understanding of what is needed to reduce and prevent it from happening

  • ensure anyone who may need support knows how to access our service

Community Collabration

We collaborate with professionals, organisations and community groups to share our knowledge and promote what we do. Through training, community engagement events, and campaigns such as the White Ribbon Campaign, we tackle the root cause of domestic abuse by:

  • sharing information, resources, and practical tools

  • challenging harmful attitudes such as toxic masculinity, sexism, misogyny and the normalisation of abusive language

  • empowering individuals to become active bystanders and play a role in creating safer, more respectful communities

  • holding perpetrators accountable so that their behaviours can be addressed

Training for professionals and community groups

  • we train multi agency professionals so they know how to identify and respond to domestic abuse and prevent future harm.

International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrated annually on March 8, honours women’s achievements and promotes gender equality worldwide.

"CarmDAS training opened my eyes to how toxic masculinity, sexist attitudes and gender inequality are deeply connected to violence against women and girls"

- Youth Worker

Our work is about prevention, accountability, and collective action - because ending abuse is everyone's responsibility.

Training For Professionals

We provide a range of talks and training to professionals and community groups, with a focus on early intervention to stop future harm. Our training aims to raise practitioners' awareness of:

  • the warning signs of domestic abuse and the impact of domestic abuse on individuals and families

  • the tactics used by perpetrators to gain or keep power and control, and the legislation that protects victims from coercive control

  • stalking and harassment, including online abuse

  • the link between domestic abuse and homelessness

  • how we, as practitioners, respond to those experiencing and perpetrating domestic abuse/stalking and harassment and how to do this safely

  • how to offer appropriate help and support to victims of domestic abuse, including both practical and emotional support

  • where specialist support and help can be obtained for victims and professionals, including victims' legal rights and Clare’s Law

  • available services and how to refer in

  • how collective action raises standards of good practice
