The Stepping Stone provides a safe and homely space for women and children escaping domestic abuse

The Stepping Stone is located close to shops, schools and other local amenities.  It accommodates five families and each room has an ensuite bathroom, microwave, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.  We provide bedding and towels and a starter pack of toiletries and food to ensure you have the essentials in your temporary new home.  There are two shared kitchens, living room, child play room, young persons room and outside space.  We have one room suited to a disabled woman (with or without children).

Our support workers are there to help you settle in and provide emotional support.  They can provide information on a range of issues including welfare, housing and legal issues.  The location of the refuge is confidential to ensure safety.

Access to The Stepping Stone

Our refuge is accessible 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  Before we provide space we have a conversation to see whether the Stepping Stone is suitable for you and whether we are able to support you.  If there is no space available or if the Stepping Stone is not suitable we will signpost you to other refuges that could help you.
