Support for Men

In 2018/19 it was reported that 786,000 men experienced a form of domestic abuse in England and Wales (CSEW 18/19) – you are not alone.

Domestic abuse is a result of gender inequality and is rooted in power and control.  It can affect anyone including men. Domestic abuse is a choice that the abuser makes and people who are experiencing domestic abuse are not to blame.

At CarmDAS we understand that men experiencing domestic abuse may find it hard to access support because:

  • You won’t be believed or taken seriously
  • Reduced masculinity or a reluctance to identify as victim because of shame or embarrassment
  • Fear of what others might think
  • Fear of losing their children
  • Fear of further abuse

There is no excuse for domestic abuse and you have the right to support to move on.

Our crisis intervention services are typically the first point of contact for anyone needing support or advice around domestic abuse.
The CarmDAS team will listen to you and ask questions about your situation in a confidential safe space.  We can provide information and guidance on domestic abuse and help put a package of support together for you.

At all times we will work with you to increase safety and help you to make informed decisions. We can also refer you to other/additional services so that you can have the support that is right for you.

The CarmDAS team are fully trained about male abuse to ensure they can provide you with the support you need.  We support all victims of domestic abuse, including LGBTQ+ and male victims, tailoring our support to meet your individual.  We can also refer you to other/additional services so that you can have the support that is right for you.
