21st March 2022 is a historic moment for children and their rights in Wales where physically punishing children will be illegal.

This can mean:

• Smacking
• Hitting
• Slapping
• Shaking
• and other types too where physical force is used.

It will give children the same protection as adults from assault

Anyone who physically punishes a child will be at risk of breaking the law, risk of being arrested or charged with assault and at risk of getting a criminal record.
