About CarmDAS Careers Join Our Team Domestic Abuse Support Worker Vacancy The Role This is an exciting opportunity to support survivors of domestic abuse both practically and emotionally. Supporting them with their safety, the candidate will carry out assessments, provide one to one support and advocacy, work with partners to enable the survivor to live freely without abuse. As part of this role you will need a full driving licence, access to a car and a Welsh Speaker would be advantageous. What you will need to succeed in this role You will: Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues associated with domestic abuse and its effect on the individuals and their children. Have experience of advocacy, working with individuals in difficult situations and working collaboratively with other agencies. Be comfortable in working with people in crisis and be confident to work with survivors to support them to build their self-esteem and confidence to improve wellbeing Be confident to participate in the delivery of group work to survivors Be enthusiastic, motivated, flexible, available to travel and to participate in our on call, 24 hour rota. Your personality You will be Passionate about equality and injustice. You will need to Be motivated, resilient, practical, flexible highly organised and adaptable to change. Have excellent communication skills, be able to build relationships with survivors, the team and partners. Prepared to take on new tasks and work outside your comfort zone. You will need to be interested in people and be prepared to learn. You’ll need to be a great team player and able to take on responsibility.
